The blog has gotten off to kind of a slow start, partly due to my being a neglectful blog-parent, partly due to having had swine flu for the past week. :-s

Is blog-parent a legitimate term? I don’t know but I know I like it!

I’ve been making business cards this evening. I’ve had some difficulty as I think the pictures I use should be wedding related but I’ve got some other miscellaneous pictures that I really love and want to include. In the end I think it’s going to come down to how well they crop onto the cards.

But that’s not the point of tonight. I wanted to talk about wedding plans. While I’ve been ill I’ve started looking for a Photographer for my own wedding and to be honest, I think I underestimated how difficult it would be!

I know I’m a special case, being a Photographer myself my demands are high. Frankly if I thought anyone would let me get away with it I’d try to photograph my own wedding! But it’d never work, so I’m looking for someone else I trust enough to do it.

I figured I’d get someone I know, but I can’t think of anyone, which is ridiculous. So; reluctantly I started looking at Photographers in the area where we’re getting married.

I must’ve looked at dozens of websites for Photographers now and found only a handful whose work I liked, and a lot of them don’t quote prices or even give an indication of what price bracket they fall in. I don’t know about anyone else but I find this really annoying, what’s the point in having a flash-looking website if it doesn’t convey any useful information? It certainly doesn’t make me feel inclined to enquire.

And what have I found? Who have I booked? No-one as yet. The only guy so far I was impressed enough to enquire about is already booked. So I guess what I’ve learned is this: Book your Photographer in advance!

I’m hoping I never have to book another Wedding Photographer though!
